  • vs.net 2005 final delayed?

I was under the impression that we would be getting the final bits at the PDC this year but according to what was just announced, we'll have to wait until November 7th. Perhaps now there will be a beta 2 refresh or even an RC? I definitely need something before November because beta 2 is starting to wear on me with its frequent crashing...my favorite bug is when you click something in designer mode and the ide just disappears! sweet!

    ** update
I just found out that there is a June CTP available for vs.net 2005, though I probably won't upgrade because production software is not supported.
  • Move to Community Server 1.1

I was debating on the upgrade for a while, but after falling in love with the iroha theme and skins, like many others, I had to go for it. As I understand it, the changes for this release were focused on bug fixes and stability, which is a welcome change to this site as I was running in to quite a few unexplained errors.

Anyway, I've updated the entire site to the iroha - nezumiiro (grey) theme as well as added the iroha skins to the blogs and galleries section of the site. As you will see, that really added a sense of continuity throughout the site.

I like email and all but it shouldn't' take 20 minutes to download after being out of town and unplugged for a week.

After sifting through my 5 million emails, I calculated that only 20% of them were non spam. In other words, i basically waited 15 minutes for my spam to download so i could then delete it...Anyway, i don't know where I'm going with the whole email spam thing, but if anyone is interested in hearing more just drop me an email to the address above.

  • Crazy ***

This has been a crazy week for me... Earlier in the week (Tuesday) Hayley and I decided that it we time to get some new bikes because we planned on being a lot more active this summer. So we went to the bike shop and yadda yadda yadda it was 3 hours later and we had a new ladies Trek 6700 and a mens Trek 8000. Needless to say that both bikes exceeded the budget we had originally anticipated but they truly are bikes we can keep for a very long time. It's Hayley's first nice bike and my second, though the 8000 is on a whole different level than my old Trek 4500.

So, as of Tuesday, i was a professional mountain biker ;) seems like enough for one week but it doesn't stop there...On Wednesday I received a letter in the mail from a near by VW dealer stating that they would like to buy my 03 Passat GLX and get me in to a new car (There was a lot more detail in the letter but that was the gist of it). I love my passat but I love new stuff even more so I high tailed it to the dealer to see what was up. After about 30 minutes we already had a deal on a new 05 V6 Touareg for about 50 bucks more than I was paying now for my Passat. I had no intention of trading in my lease until it was up in the end of 2006 but the Touareg was an even better fit for our lifestyle lately which involves a lot of towing (jet skis, snowmobiles) and carting the bikes around to the trails. So, with that said, I waved goodbye to my Passat yesterday and drove home the new Touareg.

Now, as of Friday, I'm a professional mountain biker and an suv owner, oh... and i'm broke.

  • Outlook and Vs.net 2005

Announcing Outlook Support in VSTO 2005!
    By Microsoft WebBlogs

This will really give a big boost to outlook addin development. I really believe that the ability to easily develop and install plug-ins should be an integral part of every communication and productivity app. I look forward to tinkering with the api myself and to a plethora of plug-ins in the near future..... Viva Thunderbird!.. oops, wrong post...

  • Stargate, The game!

I just read that there will be a game out this fall for Xbox based on my favorite TV show, Stargate SG-1. The game will be titled Stargate SG-1: The Alliance and promises to please both hardcore gamers and fans of the show alike. All I can say is, Sign me up! Check out the GameSpot game space to see the E3 trailer.

  • 5.1 round 2

My first experience with 5.1 surround on my computer was a few months back when i purchased the Logitech z5300 thx speakers. Initially, I was blow away by what I was missing out on, especially when gaming...Now comes round 2, in which I've moved my logitech set downstairs (to the new room) and installed my newly purchased Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 Ultra's on my workstation. The install took a while, but was definitely worth it since i was able to used my own speaker wire (monster xp flat) and mount the rear speakers on stands!

Now on to the performance...All I can say is, Holy ***! My Logitech's sounded great, but in comparison to the ProMedia's, great just doesn't cut it anymore. The fidelity and range of these speakers are superior to my previous set in every way, it even has a built in processor for mixing stereo signals to all 5.1 channels. For my logitech's, I could do the same thing but it required using a special setting on my Audigy 2 zs card (cmss 3d stereo surround). Granted, the klipsh are over $100 more expensive than the z5300's (which is why I didn't get them before), but in this case, you're definitely getting what you pay for.

In the words of the infamous Ferris Bueller...If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.
