  • Jager.... gooood!

I don't want it... I just need it!

Check out the latest edition to my little home bar project.
  • Can't wait to see it again

Revenge of the Sith was well done and definitely worth the wait...I think they really did a great job especially with tying in the new movies with the old. I was a little worried about it after the first two, but they definitely pulled it off in part III.

    Go see it!
  • Now... where did I put my keys?

Microsoft ups ante in desktop search
    By CNet News.com

Well, it may not be able to find my keys, but it seems to find just about everything else. I Installed the new desktop search engine this morning and have liked what I've seen so far. The integration with to the task bar is very streamlined and not intrusive at all; the same can also be said for the outlook tool bar which accesss the same index (including email of course). The IE tool bar looks cool too and has most of the nice features that your used to in a good browser addon, but since i don't use IE anymore I haven't really played with it all that much.

So, it looks cool, and thankfully it preforms even better. The second you click in the taskbar search box, a window pops up showing you your search results as you type; And, as the results came up, I noticed that it was extremely accurate in finding not only text files but also music, pictures, and archives as well (just make sure you install the available free addons). I've used the google desktop search (beta) too, which also preformed very well, but didn't seem do dig in to as many types of files as the new msn search seems to do.

  • dotNetWookie Blog Ext Beta 2

Well, since I had nothing better to do on a Saturday night ;), I began working some more on the new plug-in. This release has a lot of new features and some bug fixes so I wanted to put it out there before the final.

To view the change log and to download the release, visit the beta 2 thread. in the dotNetWookie forums.

Here are some new screen shots:

  • Star Wars, DLP Style

I plan on checking out Star Wars next week in its pure digital form. Fortunately I have a couple theaters I can attend within a 30 mile radius which have 1 or more theaters with dlp projection tech. And, according to all the hype I've read so far, it sounds like the enhanced picture is well worth the extra hassle. Click here to search and see if you have a dlp theater near you.
  • Nuclear batteries, pretty cool if it doesn't kill you.

Nuclear laptops! Now were talking.... Though, something tells me you wont be able to get that through airport security ;)

  • dotNetWookie Blog Ext Beta 1

This build is fully functional and now supports posting to both Community Server 1.0 blogs and .Text .95. Some other notable new features besides CS support are posting with multiple categories, limited rich text editor support within Omea Reader 1.5 (beta),  the ability to select which blog engine to use before posting, and some new templates (mostly for omea).

Regarding all the features i mentioned in my original post, I may have to change or drop a couple of them. Since the new version of Omea has built in support for editing the post before transmission, i may just support that feature from within Omea only. The plug-in would still work in SharpReader but you wouldn't' have the ability to create the body of your post before sending (would still have template support though). I also may drop the post preview within the reader mostly because the post can be sent as a draft and you will be transfered directly to the admin area on your blog site anyway.

Things I still have to add are more configuration options for community server (i.e. published flag, syndicated flag etc..), better support for Omea's built in editor (once i get more info from their developers), and adding support to allow posting to any authorized blog within community server.

You can download the zip here. No installer yet, so for Omea, copy in to the program directory and install via the Tools-->Options-->Feeds dialog; for SharpReader, copy files to the plugins directory beneath the SharpReader program directory.

  • Xbox Revealed?? Try fully clothed and not putting out...

          Microsoft unveils new Xbox.
    By Yahoo! News - Technology

Talk about not saying or showing a damn thing...I learned more from the unauthorized leaks on the net than I did from the so called "Xbox 360 Revealed" on MTV tonight. The only redeeming part was the live performance from the killers.

    ** update **
here's a good link for some actual specs.

  • The Replicators are coming!

It's only a matter of time before they come for us... These little blocks may be harmless now but just wait until they become self aware and launch a nuclear attack on us! I suggest you rent Terminator 1-3 and start preparing ;)

  • Another music service...

Except Y! Unlimited actually deserves the hype.

The player (or engine as Yahoo calls it) is very impressive and definitely has the potential to replace windows media 10 as my default player and library manager. Its got all the features your used to seeing in the most popular music players and the interface very closely resembles music match (without the bloat). I'm hoping, that since this product is still beta, they will still be adding more features as it nears release. Most importantly for me are more robust tagging, a mini or task bar player (best feature of wm 10), and good plug-in support (which shows a lot of promise already).

The service is the most innovative yet, imo. Much easier to use and more intuitive than Napster and, considering the 4.95/month (if you pay annually) price tag, makes itunes, msn, and  others nearly obsolete. The only thing itunes still has on the competition is its very large selection, but my guess is that napster and yahoo will soon match or top it.

With all that said, this is still a drm'ed music service. In other words, if you want to own (yeah right) the song you'll have to pay $.79 a track for the privilege of playing the music on 3 machines or burning it to cd a specified number of times. god... just typing that is ridiculous. No one will every be able to convince me that drm is a good thing, I guess I'm just too rational a person to understand such nonsense.

  • Is it a camera? Is it a camcorder?

    Yep.

I just couldn't take it an longer and had to go for the purchase of my own digital camera. I've been wanting one for some time but have been holding off for just the right device that would allow me to take high quality movies as well. finally such a device exists, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-M1.

    cybershot_01.gif

The quality of the photos I've taken thus far are very good in most conditions, primarily due to the wide variety of shutter settings. I would definitely say that i could take some photos with this point and shoot that could rival my wifes digital rebel SLR (but lets not go crazy, that is still a better camera). But where this device really shines, and the primary reason for my purchase, was its movie taking ability. You can shoot in 640x480 at 30fps, 320x240 at 30fps, and 320x240 at 15fps all with stereo sound. The downside of the high quality mode is that storage really counts, even with a 512mb duo pro memory stick you can only get about 25 minutes of video. But, if you've got the bucks, you can get at high as a 2gb memory stick giving you 1.5 hours or more, basically just enough time for your battery to run out. For now, I'm going to try and get by with 1 256 and 1 512 which will give me 30 mins or more of high quality video or over an hour of 320x240 which is still a decent rez for view on the computer of on a web site. I may spring for the big storage sometime soon if the prices drop a bit.

Now, since this camera has a million more features that i didn't mention, check out this complete review by zdnet. they run it through all the tests and break it down for those who may want to pick one up for themselves. I was really blow away by the speed and battery comparisons, Sony has really done a nice job with this device.

  • Google has everything these days

I'm going to start calling them Googlesoft because it seems like they have every tool under the sun. Their latest, is called Google web accelerator and, i have to say, is pretty damn cool. I've been using it for a couple of hours now and it really does speed up surfing on most sites. I especially like how it will allow you to omit certain sites from being cached and that it works with firefox, which has been my default browser since it was released.
